Rusty Crutcher is a composer, instrumentalist, producer, and the founder of Emerald Green Sound Productions and has been widely recognized domestically and internationally. He’s a multi-instrumentalist and his main solo instruments are the woodwinds. Crutcher has performed with such diverse acts as Alphonse Mouzon (Weather Report), The Emotions, Ronnie Laws, Asleep at the Wheel, Chris Calloway (daughter of Cab Calloway), The Coasters, The Drifters, and more; he also performed on sax and woodwinds for hundreds of film, TV, commercial and studio recordings. His style is a fusion of different musical genres from jazz to classical, from ambient to world music.  His love of many different styles and genres of music has had a distinct effect on his creating diverse music. Currently he is preparing for the April 11th 2022 release of his next “Sacred Sites Series” release, the “Oracle of Delphi.” Rusty is currently studying 16th Century counterpoint with Dr. Michael Baker in preparation to compose a choral work modeled on the masters of Renaissance music. and his travels in Italy. He’ has taught music theory, orchestration, analysis, aural, digital sound, saxophone, and “Introduction to the Fine Arts,” at Texas State University, University of Kentucky, and Wake Forest University.

How the Sacred Sites Series Came Into Existence

In late mid July of 1987 a friend asked me what I’d like to do with my music and I replied that I wanted to travel to sacred places and combine nature, the feelings of each place, and music. I was then asked what sacred site I would like to go to first.  Spontaneously, I said Machu Picchu, Peru. Without going into the details of why I chose Machu Picchu, which I have to say are amazing, four weeks later I was on a pilgrimage of place, nature, and music to the “Harmonic Convergence” at Machu Picchu, Peru, August 16 and 17, 1987.  I knew nothing about the Mayan calendar or prophecies, and yet here I was.
